COVID-19 Safety and Policies

Your health and safety are our highest priorities at Gaylaxicon 2025. We are committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and welcoming convention experience for all attendees. Please check this page for updates, as our guidelines may be updated based on evolving public health recommendations and requirements.

Our COVID-19 policies for Gaylaxicon 2025 are as follows:

  • Masks: Masks covering your nose and mouth are required in all convention spaces, including registration, panel rooms, and gaming areas, with the following exceptions:
    • While performing or presenting on a panel
    • In the ConSuite and other designated eating spaces
    • Briefly in masked spaces for sipping a beverage
    • In non-convention areas of the hotel (ample open seating is available outside of convention spaces for eating and socializing without masks)
  • Preferred Masks: High-quality masks such as N95, KN95, and KF94 are strongly encouraged. For more information on types of masks, please see CDC mask guidance.
  • Gaming Room: Gaming tables will be spaced to allow for distancing, and chairs at each table will be arranged for both safety and playability. Gamers are encouraged to bring their own dice if possible.
  • Hand Sanitizer: Hand sanitizer will be available throughout all convention spaces, especially where game pieces and shared materials are used.
  • ConSuite: The ConSuite will offer a selection of pre-packaged snacks and individually packaged drinks (cans, bottles) instead of our usual wider selection. For the Chocolate Symposium, please bring only individually wrapped chocolates.
  • Hotel Guests: Please note that the hotel is not exclusive to Gaylaxicon, and we cannot guarantee that other hotel guests are vaccinated or masked.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are we still requiring masking?
As of mid-2025, COVID-19 transmission continues to rise periodically across the United States. Conventions with strong masking policies consistently report lower rates of COVID-19 transmission at their events. Our policies are in place to help protect all attendees, especially those who are immunocompromised or otherwise more vulnerable to COVID-19. Masking remains one of the most effective ways to reduce transmission at indoor events.
